New Favorite Recipe

My wonderful friend Leanna is an amazing cook who creates spectacular meals. Over the next few weeks I will be sharing some of her tasty creations.

Harry's Pub Pizza Bread

Ingredients:

1 package 3.5 ounces) pepperoni slices
1 can (3.25 ounces) sliced ripe olives
1 can (3.25 ounces) sliced mushrooms (optional)
2 tablespoons snipped fresh parsley (or dried parsley)
1/2 cup (2 ounces) shredded mozzarella cheese
2 tbsp all-purpose flour (this is a must)
1 garlic cloves, pressed
2 packages (11 ounces each) refrigerated French bread dough
1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning
2 tbsp (1/2 ounce) grated fresh Parmesan cheese
1 can (15 ounces) pizza sauce, warmed (optional)

Dice or cut the pepperoni slices into smaller strips. Drain the olive slices and the mushrooms, and put into bowl, add the pepperoni and/or other meats. Add parsley, Italian seasoning, Mozzarella, and Parmesan. Press the clove of garlic and mix together well.

On a cutting board, lay out waxed paper, sprinkle with flour (this really, really is a must.) Take the French bread dough, seam side up, and slice open, half way (do not cut all the way through.) With rolling pin, roll out the dough width-wise to create a well. Transfer to lightly greased cookie sheet.

Spoon on pizza sauce (I used regular spaghetti sauce...) add half the mixture to each French bread "well." Extra sauce can be then used as a dipping sauce. Bake at 375 degrees for 20-30 minutes.

Can be prepared as a main dish or appetizer.

Geek Moment

Two weeks ago we headed to Portland for pure geek filled enjoyment... of course we stayed long enough to have a great time visiting with family, but the real purpose of our visit... STAR WARS!!! In July Sean ran across a segment about the new Star Wars endeavor, Star Wars in Concert (more info can be found on their website www.starwarsinconcert.com ) We were hooked and then became the grateful recipients of tickets to the concert (huge thanks to Sean's parents). We spent a blustery Wednesday evening in the Rose Garden with hundreds of fellow Star Wars geeks enjoying the many props, costumes, and story boards from the sets. Of course, the highlight of the evening was the concert itself... if you thought hearing the music in surround sound at the theater was amazing, I can only say you have not lived the full experience until you have heard it live with full orchestra and chior. It was truly impressive and bone chilling. The entire story is retold through the music and movie clips of all 6 movies. Anthony Daniels (C3PO) is a great narrator.
