It's amazing how life can be moving along so smoothly then a pebble is tossed in and all the sudden it causes such a disruption that it takes days to process. Days that are used to reflect on the wonder of life and how short it can be. To be reminded that in the fast pace we live it is so important to slow down and enjoy what has been given to us. A reminder that one can never say "I love you" too often.
After having had such a wonderful week of vacation and then coming home to prepare for the start of Chanukah we were shocked Thursday morning when we learned that Sean's grandfather Larry had passed away in the middle of the night from a heart attack. While Grandpa Larry hadn't been in the greatest of health for the last few years, we were certainly not expecting it at this moment in time. It has been a great shock knowing that Sean's last grandparent is gone.
We are sad that Ethan won't get the chance to know his great-grandfather, although we are blessed to have a wonderful pictures of them together, some special items that Grandpa Larry gave to Ethan, and good memories that we will continue to share with Ethan so he will know him through us.
Grandpa Larry's funeral will be next Saturday the 27th, for which we will be traveling to Portland. Please think of us during this time as we say goodbye to Sean's last grandparent.
Remember that we think of all you often and love you very much.

New Favorite Recipe
My wonderful friend Leanna is an amazing cook who creates spectacular meals. Over the next few weeks I will be sharing some of her tasty creations.
Harry's Pub Pizza Bread

Ingredients:
1 package 3.5 ounces) pepperoni slices
1 can (3.25 ounces) sliced ripe olives
1 can (3.25 ounces) sliced mushrooms (optional)
2 tablespoons snipped fresh parsley (or dried parsley)
1/2 cup (2 ounces) shredded mozzarella cheese
2 tbsp all-purpose flour (this is a must)
1 garlic cloves, pressed
2 packages (11 ounces each) refrigerated French bread dough
1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning
2 tbsp (1/2 ounce) grated fresh Parmesan cheese
1 can (15 ounces) pizza sauce, warmed (optional)
Dice or cut the pepperoni slices into smaller strips. Drain the olive slices and the mushrooms, and put into bowl, add the pepperoni and/or other meats. Add parsley, Italian seasoning, Mozzarella, and Parmesan. Press the clove of garlic and mix together well.
On a cutting board, lay out waxed paper, sprinkle with flour (this really, really is a must.) Take the French bread dough, seam side up, and slice open, half way (do not cut all the way through.) With rolling pin, roll out the dough width-wise to create a well. Transfer to lightly greased cookie sheet.
Spoon on pizza sauce (I used regular spaghetti sauce...) add half the mixture to each French bread "well." Extra sauce can be then used as a dipping sauce. Bake at 375 degrees for 20-30 minutes.
